Is your memory failing?
Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is a mushroom, it has a beautiful white, waterfall in the shape of an ice cone, with long, shaggy spines. It grows on broadleaf trunks of dried-up hardwood trees. People can cook and eat them as food, also available in supplement. Lion's Mane has a long history use in East Asian medicine for a variety of health reasons including dementia, stomach problems and immune stimulation.
How does Lion's Mane help your brain?
Popular belief was that mushroom, beside its culinary aspect, also possesses neurotrophic properties (nerve tissue growth) manifesting in improved memory and cognition.
Early experiments on animals showed that active substances found in these mushrooms, hericenones and erinacines, stimulated growth of neurons and improved connectivity between them. More recent research suggests the mushroom’s β-glucans content may also improve cognition via the gut-brain axis – the bidirectional communication between the central and the enteric nervous system, linking cognitive centres of the brain with peripheral intestinal functions. Today’s Research shows that this mushroom has the potential to improve brain function as well as protect it against damage.
What's in Active Brain?
Active Brain is a blend of nutrients, formulated specifically to help the ageing brian by promoting nerve health, cognition and alertness. Lion’s Mane extract helps protect and improve connectivity between neurons. In addition to hericenones and erinacines, it is a rich source of β-glucans.
Lion's Mane mushroom helps protect and improve connectivity between neurons.
Grape seed extract is a rich source of antioxidant polyphenols. These provide protection from oxidative stress and also help maintain protein production in order to maintain the health of nerve cells.
Green Tea extract are rich sources of antioxidants that influence cognition (benefits in memory and attention), brain function (activation of working memory) and alertness.
Zinc is important for the brain to functoin normally; however, the serum concentration of zinc gradually decreases with age. Zinc deficiency is closely related to cognitive and memory impairment.
Vitamin B3 is required for normal neurological function, and may protect against age-related cognitive decline.
